Emilus N.D. Small lived in Mt. Vernon, Maine. Served in Company A of the 16th Maine from August 1862 until March 1863 when he was discharged for disability. He re-enlisted in the 2nd Maine Cavalry in December 1863 and served two more years. Card is signed "Yours muchly, Small, E.N.D. 2nd Me. Cav."
